Position Description:

Designs and implements full‑stack solutions that span multiple interconnected applications, modules, or service layers using J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Angular. Defines and evolves application level and cross application design approaches for Object Oriented Design, RESTful service structures, and integration patterns across complex systems. Develops and maintains highly complex backend services and frontend components that require advanced coordination between data models, APIs, and user interfaces (UIs). Establishes and refines reusable application frameworks, shared components, and common patterns to support consistent development across multiple solutions. Applies technical expertise to resolve system‑wide design, performance, and integration challenges across the full stack. Performs comprehensive analysis of existing applications to support large‑scale enhancements, refactoring, or extension of functionality while maintaining alignment with coding, security, and testing standards. Drives consistency and quality across multiple applications by advancing coding standards, RESTful integration practices, and test coverage strategies within the development lifecycle. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in architecture design teams.
• Defines and implements application-level architecture.
• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
• Advises senior management on technical strategy.
• Mentors junior team members.
• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
• Provides guidance on application integration patterns, API design, and service interoperability across distributed systems.
• Builds Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure to deploy applications to the environment, creates alerts and sets up monitoring systems to improve software quality, deployment reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborates with business stakeholders to analyze application usage patterns and system performance metrics to support data‑driven improvements.
• Evaluates and adopts modern development frameworks, tools, and methodologies to enhance scalability, maintainability, and system performance
• Supports and guides teams to troubleshoot production issues integrated with complex systems.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Single Page Applications (SPA) using Angular, Java/J2EE, and Spring frameworks.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing Single Page Applications (SPA) using Angular, Java/J2EE, and Spring frameworks.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, developing, and supporting responsive full-stack and single-page Web applications, including client-side development (using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular, jQuery, Bootstrap, AJAX, and JSON), and server-side development of RESTful services and microservices (using Java and Spring/Spring Boot), integrating with Oracle databases, deploying on Tomcat application servers, and ensuring cross- browser compatibility and accessibility.  
• DE configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins Core, Docker, Artifactory, Terraform, IBM UrbanCode Deploy (UDeploy), GitHub, and Linux scripting; automating application deployment workflows using Jenkins and Amazon Web Services (AWS) container and orchestration services -- Elastic Container Service (ECS), Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), and Route 53; monitoring and troubleshooting applications using Splunk and Datadog; conducting code security scans and remediating vulnerabilities using Mend and SonarQube; and performing code reviews and unit testing using JUnit to improve application performance and maintain code coverage. 
• DE designing, documenting, and maintaining APIs using Swagger and OpenAPI specifications; developing enterprise integration solutions using Java-based integration technologies (Apache Camel); and implementing modern client-side engineering practices using Figma for UI design, Nx monorepo workspaces, RxJS, and automated testing frameworks -- Cypress, Jest, Jasmine, Karma, Storybook, and Playwright. 
• DE collecting, analyzing, and interpreting user behavior and transactional data using digital analytics platforms -- Google Tag Manager, Ensighten, Adobe Analytics, and Contentsquare; performing data segmentation and A/B testing; querying, merging, and transforming data using SQL in Postgres or Snowflake; and creating actionable analytical insights and visualizations using PowerBI to support data-driven decision making.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
