Now Hiring: Warehouse Associate – 2nd Shift
Manufacturing Warehouse, Forklift Operations & Steel Distribution
Openwork is hiring an experienced Warehouse Associate for an established steel distribution company in Houston, TX 77041.
This hands-on position involves operating forklifts, pulling customer orders, loading and unloading materials, and supporting daily warehouse operations.
Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years of manufacturing warehouse or material-handling experience and hands-on forklift operating experience. Overhead crane and steel industry experience are preferred but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly preferred.
Position Details:
- Location: Houston, TX 77041
- Pay: $17.50/hr | Weekly Pay
- Schedule: Mon–Fri, 11:30 AM–8:00 PM
- Training: Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM until completed.
- Shift: 2nd Shift
- Employment: Full-Time
- Overtime: Required as needed, including short or last-minute notice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts to safely move, load, and organize materials.
- Pull and prepare customer orders using pick tickets.
- Load and unload trucks and warehouse materials.
- Verify material sizes, quantities, grades, and heat numbers.
- Handle structural steel, pipes, and steel plates.
- Assist with cutting and measuring materials using shop equipment.
- Check order accuracy and complete required documentation.
- Follow safe material-handling and equipment procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse areas.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing warehouse or material-handling experience required.
- Hands-on forklift operating experience required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly preferred.
- Overhead crane experience preferred but not required.
- Steel distribution or steel manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Experience loading, unloading, and handling industrial materials.
- Ability to read pick tickets and use basic measuring tools.
- Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Dependable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
- Must be available for short-notice or last-minute overtime.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet applicable pre-employment background and drug/alcohol screening requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Industrial warehouse and steel distribution environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Forklift operation and handling heavy industrial materials.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Required PPE and workplace safety procedures.
