Human Resources Specialist

Annual salary: $ 24.35 - $33.70 per (based on experience)
 

The City of Alabaster is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support a broad range of HR functions, with a focus on payroll administration and performance management. Working under the direction of the HR Director, this position serves as administrative support ensuring accurate records, timely payroll processing, and responsive service to employees and City leadership while maintaining confidential information.  

General Duties

• Provides comprehensive human resources support including payroll, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, compensation, classification, and performance management.

• Maintains accurate electronic and paper personnel files, records, and documentation for full life cycle of employee.

• Enter, update, and verify information in HRIS system to include payroll, timekeeping and performance management.

• Assist in the process of bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time to include salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

• Provide records and documentation for audits and assist in the city performance review process under the HR Director’s direction.

• Conduct periodic audits of personnel files and records to confirm accuracy and completeness.

• Assist employees, supervisors, and City leadership with basic HR procedures, questions, and employment forms as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field preferred with minimum three years of experience in human resources, benefits, or payroll administration required. Experience with UKG payroll system a plus.  Strong Microsoft Office skills and regular, predictable attendance are essential.  AAPPA or SHRM certification is strongly desired.
