Job Description:
Surgical Coordinator (Urology)
Location: Richmond Hill, NY
Hours: 5/8.5 hr shifts Monday- Friday (between 7am-7pm)
Organization: New York Health (NYH)
In this role, you will:
- Schedule office and/or hospital procedures per physician recommendation
- Respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner
- Facilitate appropriate communication with the scheduling team to balance procedures and office visits.
- Work in tandem with the authorizations department to ensure authorizations for procedures are obtained and monitored
- Compile physician schedules and coordinate resources (Anesthesia, Radiology, Equipment, etc.)
- Work with electronic medical records to document and coordinate care effectively
- Help patients navigate through appointments to ensure all proper clearances have been obtained.
- Maintain relationships with various surgical facilities.
- Collect CPT and ICD Coding .
- Obtain necessary medical clearances, blood work, and/or imaging needed for procedure compliance.
- Other duties as assigned
We require:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous insurance and authorization experience is a plus.
- Medical Assistant certification (a plus)
- Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Bilingual: Spanish/English a plus.
