Description
- Create a Christ-centered learning environment for children ages 1-5 years where children learn to worship through the art of music.
- Develop and plan music lessons in the classroom through rhythm, instruments, movement, singing and play that are aligned with the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of the students in the classroom.
- Connect with other Christian early childhood programs in the surrounding area.
- Plan, teach, and perform 3 programs throughout the year: Christmas (Infant-PreK), Sing for Joy! (Toddlers-Preschool) and Graduation (PreK).
- Lead and plan chapel for all grade levels.
- Monthly, communicate with families on music class and chapel through grade-level newsletters.
- Meet with parents both informally and formally throughout the year as needed.
- Follow the directives of the Preschool Director to maintain high standards in the classroom and provide a quality learning experience for the children.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom and assume the responsibility to complete the duties required to maintain an orderly facility.
- Approach behavioral issues that arise with children with Christ-centered love, respect, and patience.
- Attend all required training and staff meetings throughout the year.
- Attend all school community events throughout the year, even if outside scheduled hours.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice for teaching children from 1 to 5 years of age.
- Maintains licensing compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Educational requirements: Degree in Early Childhood Education, Music Education, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Experience required: Must meet the licensing guidelines for lead qualification.
- Ability to frequently sit on the floor, stand, bend, and actively lead movements for extended periods.
- Has a heart and mission to reach the next generation with the Gospel.
- Can clearly articulate the Gospel to a young child.
- Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
