Creole Interpreter - Onsite (Columbus Junction, IA)

Job Details:

Summary:

• Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken language to another.

• Interpreting services include but are not limited to Employment, Training & Orientation, Meetings, Human Resources, Health Services, and other operational activities as assigned.

• This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality.

• The interpreter must be willing to work in all environments of the facility.

Requirements:

Education:

• High school degree or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Experience:

• Must be able to pass the Interpreter Assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher.

• One year of interpreter experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Current Team Members already certified under Tyson interpreter program or other language certification acquired through an academic organization will be preferred.

Communication Skills:

• Must have strong verbal communication skills in their dominant language and the English language. Must agree to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Special Skills:

• Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision, while at the same time be a member of a team to coordinate and provide support as needed. Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational, decision-making, and follow-up skills. Basic computer and typing skills preferred. The Interpreter is expected to use dictionaries and glossaries for reference in order to communicate a clear and concise message.

Travel:

• Must have a valid driver's license to attend outside medical appointments.

Reports to: Manager Learning Operations

Priority consideration will be given to applicants at this facility, as well as priority for internal candidates impacted due to plant closure or job elimination.
