Job Description:

This role is responsible for a key workstream within the TTAI team. You will lead a key workstream which may include people topics, delivery methodologies and/or artifact creation to support change and engagement efforts across technology. You will drive communications, embed change and align cross-functional initiatives, with a focus on the workforce and what it takes for people to adapt and thrive. The Staff Project Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the strategic transformation agenda of the Technology Transformation, Analytics & Insights team (TTAI). The role requires a strong blend of critical thinking, change leadership, design thinking, communication & engagement and delivery execution.

This role is a one year in length, covering parental leave.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of technology delivery, digital or physical
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and partner management skills
  • Strategic perspective with the ability to translate vision into executable plans and communication strategies
  • Experience working in matrixed, global environments with cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments
  • Evidence of applying design thinking to complex transformations
  • Understanding of bp’s operating model and company structure
  • Evidence of being a committed team player

Desirable Attributes:

  • Familiarity with transformation frameworks such as Disciplined Agile, SAFe, or similar is a plus.
  • Experience with change management, program delivery, and transformation is a plus but not a hard requirement.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion and high performance.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching others or active membership in employee founded support groups

What You’ll Do:

  • Align team members and the wider Technology team around a shared change vision through skillful communications.
  • Help teams adapt to changes in structures, processes, and tools.
  • Prepare the organization to embrace new ways of working and assess the impact on our workforce.
  • Develop change strategies and roadmaps that provide clarity and focus.
  • Build engagement and trust to enable sustained adoption.
  • Support change across large-scale transformations.
  • Support the realization of business value and long-term success.
  • Collaborate and engage with customers across technology, business and the TTAI to understand difficulties, solutions, and to champion the creation and use of change and engagement plans
  • Partner with technology leadership to ensure that all initiatives work towards the overarching technology strategy and focus on enabling employees to thrive.

We are in a constantly evolving world with the rise of AI, geopolitical tensions and changes in energy demand. bp is evolving to a downstream and upstream model to best serve the changing world and within bp, Technology is at the heart of this evolution.

This role provides the opportunity to work alongside Technology leadership to deliver key initiatives that will fundamentally change the way that Technology works at bp supporting the business shift to a Upstream/Downstream model.

There will be the opportunity to work on broad initiatives with high levels of ambiguity. The role will evolve as priorities within the change agenda shift, but the role will maintain a high leadership focus to improve as a Technology organisation.

You will work with:

The Transformation, Analytics and Insights (TAI) team reports directly to the EVP Technology and is distributed globally across US, UK, India and Malaysia. Our team Credo brings us together to ensure that we work as one team together regardless of location. We work to ensure that Technology is an efficient, effective and trusted partner for the bp business. Our activities span from creating tooling to support improved delivery efficiency to supporting transformation activity and mergers & acquisitions. An important part of this work is the change and engagement aspect that touches everything we do in TTAI and across Technology, focusing on how we bring our workforce along on the journey and enabling them through the right processes, tools and ways of working. We are tightly coupled across the team to Technology leadership and highly visible within the Technology organization.

Workforce, Change & Engagement within the TAI team is a team of trusted advisors working alongside TAI, SVPs and VPs to shape and communicate transformation activities, with a focus on workforce and bringing our people along on the journey. We act as a consultancy, providing short engagements with longer-term governance to ensure that initiatives are embedded and standards in communication, change and engagement are in place. We problem solve for our SVPs and VPs, leveraging deep relationships across the TAI team and Technology. The pace is fast and changable; we care deeply about each other, are kind even when it is tough to speak the truth and have each others back.

Because the TTAI team supports many different workstreams we are often required to flex and accommodate changing demands from the organization. Whilst individuals will be assigned to a specific team, we anticipate that there will be occasional need to support other TTAI workstreams.
