In this role, you will help shape the benefit programs for large employers that thousands of employees rely on using data, modeling, and real-world business problem-solving.
What you’ll do:
You’ll support our Financial Services teams by analyzing financial and claims data, building models, and turning insights into recommendations that help large employers (5,000+ employees) manage cost, risk, and employee experience across benefit programs.
You’ll work on programs like:
- Short Term Disability
- Long Term Disability
- Life Insurance
- Absence & leave management (FMLA, company leave administration)
- Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
- Statutory disability programs and Paid Family Medical Leave
- Time Away Benefits (Paid Time Off/Vacation)
What success looks like
- You translate complex plan designs and data into clear, decision-ready underwriting results that clients will use to make benefit program decisions.
- You build and refine pricing/forecast models that show how benefit programs impact both cost and risk.
- You partner with teammates to deliver accurate, on-time underwriting for large, high-visibility clients.
- You spot trends in claims experience and performance, then help shape solutions that reduce risk and improve outcomes.
- You will project Life, Absence, and Disability renewal positions and negotiate rates and plan options on behalf of clients to secure optimal, cost competitive plans.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams with the development of request for proposals (RFP) for Life, Absence, and Disability programs.
- Stay current in the evolving and competitive insurance market, emerging and complex client needs, best practice underwriting approaches, and the changing laws and regulations that impact on our business.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management & insurance, actuary, mathematics and/or another related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ underwriting experience in a benefits brokerage, consulting or insurance industry highly preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is preferred
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS PowerPoint is preferred.
- Experience with different funding mechanisms (self-funded, insured etc.) is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Comfort with numbers, financial analysis, and drawing narrative from data.
- Experience with Excel and modeling tools.
- Clear communicator that can explain complex ideas simply.
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
- Willingness to learn and broaden industry knowledge of group benefits.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

WORK LOCATION
- Work is typically performed either remotely or in a hybrid manner at MMA’s Conshohocken office, or at various customer/MMA locations as required.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $99,400 to $158,900.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
