Cost Accountant

Position Summary

The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in strengthening the financial foundation of YCENA, ensuring disciplined accounting execution, transparency, and governance across all manufacturing, costing, and inventory operations.

This role goes beyond traditional accounting execution. The Cost Accountant will participate in, and be accountable for, building, enforcing, and sustaining a best-in-class financial control environment, addressing legacy gaps, and driving a culture of accountability and operational excellence aligned with our One Yanmar philosophy.

Inventory

• Responsible for the full reconciliation of all summary and detailed inventory positions and trends.
• Responsible for review of inventory compliance relative to policy cycle and physical counts being performed, documented and presented to Accounting for audit purposes. Reasons for out of policy differences are documented by Operations and actions taken for resolution.
• Responsible for preparation and analysis of inventory obsolescence including full reserve positioning.
• Responsible that all inventory movements (internal YCENA and import) are fully traced, reconciled and placed.
• Responsible for presenting key KPIs on inventory including turns, aging, and excess providing recommendations and insight into actions against variances.
• Support and prepare intercompany transfer price positions on inbound and outbound inventory activity.

Cost accounting

• Responsible for annual review and updates of all standard costs including the full accounting treatment of revaluations.
• Responsible for the creation of annual absorption rate updates, working closely with Operations on process changes, cycle rates/efficiencies and volume.
• Responsible that new and adjusted BOMs are fully costed and updated in Epicor.
• Responsible for costing assumptions into budget and forecast cycles as requested.

Close process

• Responsible for monthly tracking and analysis of all manufacturing, price and tariff variances ensuring proper accounting treatment and reconciliations are complete.

Audit compliance

• Responsible to deliver full supporting documentation related to internal and external audit requests.

Procedures

• Responsible for documentation of work instructions on key processes and that updates are made timely including an annual review of all instructions.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 
• 2+ years progressive accounting experience 
• Direct cost/manufacturing accounting experience
• ERP experience, Epicor strongly preferred 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Primarily an office environment. 
• Sitting, standing and occasional walks throughout the plant.
