As a Construction Reconstruction Estimator, your mission is to accurately assess damage, create clear and defensible estimates, and guide homeowners and insurance partners toward efficient, high-quality reconstruction outcomes.

What Success Looks Like (Deliverables)


In this role, you are successful when you consistently:

  • Produce accurate, complete reconstruction estimates
  •   Water, Fire, vehicle, and tree impact losses
  • Minimal supplements due to missed scope
  •   Clear documentation that stands up to insurance review
  •   Move claims forward efficiently
  • Proactive communication with homeowners, adjusters, and internal teams
  •   Timelines are clearly set and consistently met
  • Protect margin while serving the customer
  •   Competitive but profitable pricing
  •   Smart use of suppliers and subcontractors
  •   Change orders handled cleanly and professionally
  • Represent Michaelis with professionalism
  •   On-site inspections are safe, thorough, and organized

Key Responsibilities (How You’ll Hit the Deliverables)

  • Perform detailed site inspections (interior, exterior, roof, structural impacts)
  • Safely set up ladders and inspection equipment
  • Create reconstruction estimates using Xactimate
  • Document and track projects using PSA CRM, Captivated, and Microsoft 365
  • Review scopes, plans, and specifications for accuracy
  • Coordinate with adjusters, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Assist with change orders, revisions, and contract alignment
  • Stay current on building codes, safety standards, and restoration best practices

Compensation & Benefits

Salary + Commission: $65,000 – $115,000 (based on performance and experience)

Requirements

Skill Set & Experience Needed

  • Proven experience as a Reconstruction Estimator (insurance restoration)
  • Strong working knowledge of Xactimate
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and adjusters
  • Ability to read and interpret scopes, blueprints, and contracts
  • Valid driver’s license and comfort traveling to job sites

Nice to Have (Not Required):

  • Storm damage and large-loss experience
  • Roofing (residential or commercial) background
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
  • Background in commercial and residential roofing.
  • Familiarity with building codes, construction practices, and restoration standards.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.

Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday - Daytime some evenings and weekends
