Position Summary

Responsible for the marketing services for a Medical School department. Develops and implements marketing plans for major clinical programs within the Department. Coordinates and designs electronic marketing via the Department’s web page. Serves as the Department’s marketing and public affairs representative to the Medical School and with the University Public Affairs Office.

Job Description

Marketing Services

• Coordinates all marketing activities related to major clinical programs and new initiatives as defined by the Chairman. Develops marketing plans and marketing budgets.

• Coordinates advertisements and media communication related to new faculty, new clinical practice offices and/or new clinical programs and initiatives.

Electronic Marketing

• Coordinates the creation and design of the department’s webpage as a key component of the department’s overall marketing strategy.

• Works with technical support staff on the Washington University Manual of Medical Therapeutics.

• Works with the technical support staff to update and maintain the webpage.

Media Relations and Representation

• All functions are to be performed in conjunction with the Medical School Public Affairs Office.

• Serves as Communication Coordinator for the department.

• Serves as liaison with Medical School Public Affairs, BJH and BJC Media offices.

• Serves as information clearing house for developments in research, teaching and clinical care activities passing on to Medical Public Affairs any information that could increase the department’s local, national and international media coverage.

• Maintains awareness of Stark regulations and complies with regulations in all referring relationship development activities.

Market Research

• Maintains market research information via a database of department sub-specialty practices within the local and regional geographic area.

• Maintains market data on general trends in the healthcare market.

Marginal or Non-Essential Functions

• Promotes and maintains network of contacts with Washington University Medical Center and the University.

• Performs other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
