Veterinary Care Assistant – Ambulance Duties
Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:30am–8:00pm
No weekend and on call working
Pro rata Bank Holidays
We are looking for a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) with Ambulance duties to join our team and provide support across our regional practices.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to support patient transfers between our branches, ensuring that patients are transported safely, comfortably and with the highest standard of care. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all relevant patient information, clinical details and client communications are transferred accurately and communicated effectively between teams.
When the Ambulance service is not in use, you will work as a VCA within our practices, supporting the wider clinical and reception teams with a variety of day-to-day duties.
Key Responsibilities
Work flexibly across our regional branches to provide additional support where required.
Assist with general VCA duties when the Ambulance service is not in use, including:
Client care and reception duties.
Patient handling.
Supporting the clinical team with patient care.
Running laboratory samples and carrying out appropriate laboratory tests following training.
Cleaning and maintaining clinical and patient areas.
Restocking and maintaining equipment and supplies.
General practice and administrative duties as required.
You will be a caring, reliable and organised individual who is confident working independently while also being an effective member of a wider team. You will need excellent communication skills, a professional manner and a genuine passion for providing high standards of patient and client care.
You will receive full training as a Veterinary Care Assistant, alongside the specific training required to undertake Ambulance and patient transfer duties.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, likes working across different teams and branches, and wants to develop their skills within a busy veterinary environment.
