As an Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Assistant, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. This role is ideal for individuals who remain calm under pressure, are detail-oriented, and are passionate about emergency veterinary medicine.
You will be an integral part of a team delivering advanced care to critically ill and injured patients.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient restraint, treatments, and diagnostics
- Support emergency and critical care patient flow during overnight shifts
- Prepare treatment areas, surgical suites, and diagnostic equipment
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
- Collect and process laboratory samples
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and ICU areas
- Provide compassionate support to clients and patients during emergency visits
- Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining hospital readiness
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous veterinary assistant experience required
- Emergency, ICU, or specialty experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and weekends
- Passion for emergency and critical care veterinary medicine
- Swing shift and weekend availability required
