About the Role

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our engineering team and take ownership of critical crawling, scraping, and data extraction services.

This role is ideal for a proactive, highly accountable engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building reliable services, and working with modern technologies. You will have significant ownership over the uptime, reliability, and performance of our scraping infrastructure.

While frontend experience is valuable, the primary focus of this position will be backend engineering, crawler development, APIs, data extraction, logging, and service reliability.

What You'll Do

• Build, maintain, and scale web crawlers and scraping systems for data extraction.
• Develop and manage crawling services using Puppeteer and Playwright.
• Build, maintain, and integrate APIs and backend services.
• Take ownership of crawler and scraping service uptime, reliability, and SLA performance.
• Design and maintain effective logging and monitoring systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance and reliability.
• Develop and maintain services that process and extract large amounts of data.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and other team members through Slack and asynchronous communication.
• Explore and contribute to the development of AI agents and AI-powered engineering solutions.
• Work independently to identify problems, propose solutions, and implement them with minimal oversight.
• Contribute to frontend development when needed, using React and Next.js.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend engineering experience with a proven track record of owning production services.
• Hands-on experience building web crawlers, scrapers, or automated data extraction systems.
• Strong experience with Puppeteer and Playwright.
• Strong API development and integration experience.
• Experience building and managing logging, monitoring, and reliability systems.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to take ownership of services, including uptime and SLA expectations.
• Highly proactive and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with React and Next.js.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Interest in and/or experience building AI agents.

Nice to Have

• Experience in retail technology, e-commerce, or data-driven platforms.
• Experience working with large-scale crawling or scraping infrastructure.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based applications or agentic systems.
• Experience with DevOps, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and service observability.
• Experience optimizing crawler performance, scalability, and reliability.

Work Environment

• Fully remote team.
• Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM with overlap during US business hours.
• Strong communication through Slack and asynchronous workflows.
• Direct collaboration with engineering leadership.
