A Day in the Life
Patient Care Systems develops the connected software ecosystem supporting Medtronic implantable cardiac devices. The organisation builds secure device connectivity, cloud and data platforms, clinical tools, and patient-facing technologies that help clinicians monitor and manage patients living with cardiac devices.This position is based in Galway, Ireland working form our Parkmore campus with a hybrid working model.
As a Software Cloud Engineer I, you will contribute to the development, testing, deployment and support of cloud-based software capabilities for Medtronic Patient Care Systems. Working with guidance from experienced team members, you will collaborate across software, cloud infrastructure, data, security and quality functions to build reliable technology supporting implantable cardiac devices.
- Develop, test, deploy and support defined cloud-based software capabilities with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Contribute to software delivery, cloud infrastructure, data, security and engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, security specialists, data professionals and infrastructure teams to deliver project objectives.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, investigate contributing factors and support root-cause analysis.
- Apply engineering practices related to software development, automation, cloud computing, security, reliability and operational excellence.
- Create and maintain reusable software patterns that improve development consistency and team delivery.
- Contribute to project milestones and cross-functional assignments that improve clinician and patient experiences.
- Identify and implement incremental improvements to software development processes, tools and team practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Academic, internship, personal-project or professional experience with programming, scripting, automation, cloud technologies or data systems.
- Experience contributing to software development projects individually or as part of a technical team.
- Experience using structured analytical methods to investigate and resolve technical problems.
- Written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through technical documentation, project presentations or collaborative software development.
- Experience building, testing or deploying software using a modern programming or scripting language.
- Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure services, containerisation or modern application platforms.
- Experience with source control, automated testing, continuous integration or continuous delivery practices.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, databases, event streaming, data processing or distributed systems.
- Experience integrating security, quality or compliance controls into software engineering workflows.
