As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and optimization of components across our gas power portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional, global teams to deliver high-quality solutions, drive product upgrades, and ensure our designs meet rigorous performance and safety standards. This role requires a balance of technical ownership, innovative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Analysis: Own & lead mechanical design and analysis (stress, modal, lifing) for Stationary components in gas turbines, steam, generators, and accessory systems.
• Technical Stewardship: Take ownership of mechanical hardware; perform validation testing; and evaluate designs for factors like thermal growth, manufacturing variation and assembly stack-up to ensure optimal product behavior. Additionally has an ability to manage and navigate through ambiguity in design inputs and challenges the design space for a better process and product.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrate System Level thinking while partnering with engineering experts, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to optimize sub-systems and components.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analyses (RCA) to improve reliability, quality, and yield. Apply Lean principles and trends from field learnings to streamline processes and drive innovation.
• Project Delivery: Owns milestones through formal/informal technical reviews, ensuring compliance with NPI processes and design practices.
• Mentorship: Foster a collaborative environment by coaching team members and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Principal and Chief Engineers.

 

What You’ll Bring - Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s or bachelor’s in engineering with specialization in Mechanical, Design and Applied Mechanics
• Minimum of 6 years of Engineering experience.

What Will Make You Stand Out - Desired Qualifications:

• Additional 2-3 years of relevant engineering experience in leading key programs
• Technical proficiency in engineering software (ANSYS-Classic/Workbench, NX) and programming languages (Python, Excel VBA) for data analysis.
• A "Lean" mindset, familiarity with AI-driven tools, and a passion for innovative design.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, inclusive, and fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with a transparent approach to project management and problem-solving.
