Job Summary

The Department Supervisor is a key leadership role directly responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production lines within our electrical transformer manufacturing company.  This role is crucial in ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, meeting both quality standards and production targets. This person has direct responsibility for the front-line production in the plant. The Department Supervisor has responsibility for all three shifts.

 

This role is located on-site in Celina, TN. Relocation assistance is available. 

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop high-performing production teams focused on safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Plan and execute the production schedule while effectively directing and allocating the hourly workforce.
• Communicate daily production plans, priorities, targets, and performance expectations to employees.
• Prioritize and manage shift workload to meet company, department, production, and customer objectives.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and safe operating practices.
• Participate in safety walks and safety meetings and hold employees accountable for following established safety requirements.
• Ensure workplace incidents are appropriately reported and escalated within required timelines.
• Serve as the frontline point of contact for hourly employee questions, concerns, and day-to-day operational needs.
• Coach employees and address performance, attendance, and conduct concerns consistently and in accordance with company policies, partnering with Human Resources and the General Manager as appropriate.
• Review and approve employee timekeeping and timesheets accurately and timely.
• Build strong working relationships across departments and shifts to support effective communication and operational continuity.
• Promote a positive, professional, respectful, and safe workplace culture.
• Drive 5S and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production area.
• Support initiatives to improve operational effectiveness, productivity, capacity, quality, and overall performance.
• Ensure appropriate procedures, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques are consistently utilized.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Coach and develop employees to strengthen individual capabilities and overall team performance.
• Participate in employee performance reviews and development discussions.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, communication, and leadership.
• Attend and actively participate in operational, safety, production, and leadership meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and business objectives.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or frontline leadership experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold hourly employees accountable.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and lead in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and shifts.
• Strong conflict resolution and employee performance management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, including 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
• Experience with capacity planning and operational improvement initiatives.
• Experience in transformer or electrical equipment manufacturing.
• Dry-type transformer experience preferred but not required.
