Description
PRIMARY DUTY:
This role performs a variety of functions related to certain aspects of the environmental condition of the community. Areas of focus include coordination of the city's compliance with our Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) permit, execution of the mosquito surveillance & abatement program, participation in water conservation activities & enforcement, supporting compliance with a broad range of current state and local environmental codes, regulations and policies, and providing technical assistance and information to the public. The position also prioritizes, assigns, and evaluates the work of assigned employees, contractors, and vendors in related functional areas. Duties may occur outside of normal working hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field of study is required.
- At least two (2) years of experience in environmental science, environmental health, or a related field.
- Any combination of education, training, experience, and/or certification/licenses that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- A valid Class "C" driver license with a good driving record.
- Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License.
- 40 HR HAZWOPER OSHA certification.
