Registered Nurse - Pallative Care

Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital

You will provide a high level of skill and knowledge providing care to some of our most vulnerable, and critically ill patients in a high-pressure environment. You will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring that patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met. Your role will also involve educating and supporting patients' families, helping them navigate through difficult decisions and providing them with the necessary resources for coping with their loved one's illness.

Our Palliative Care Ward – Granada is a busy 15 bed unit providing specialised palliative care to our patients. The ward is staffed by a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, and support staff who are trained in managing pain and providing emotional support to patients and their families. Additionally, the ward offers a comfortable and peaceful environment, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care during their admission.

This permanent part-time opportunity within the Palliative Care team offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families while working in a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary environment

The Position

• Assesses plans, delivers and evaluates patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required.

• Promotes and contributes to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.

• Provides patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate.

• Supports and supervises staff and students as required, including orientating and preceptoring staff.

• Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

The successful candidate will hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care that prioritises safety, satisfaction, and clinical excellence. You will demonstrate clinical experience in acute care - ideally within a palliative care enviornment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritise and multitask to meet clinical demands, maintain a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, and consistently apply occupational health and safety principles to support a safe and healthy workplace for themselves and others.

We can offer you

• Salary: $82,945 to $106,630 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation

• Permanent part-time position, working 70 hours per fortnight
