Job Overview

The Product Director is accountable for the strategic direction, commercial performance, lifecycle management, and profitable growth of an assigned Nikkiso Cryogenic Services product portfolio. The role serves as the business owner for a defined portfolio of aftermarket products, services, and solutions, ensuring alignment with NCS growth objectives, customer needs, and lifecycle value creation strategies.

The Product Director is responsible for developing and executing portfolio strategies that increase revenue, expand margins, improve customer retention, and strengthen NCS’s competitive position across global markets. This includes ownership of market intelligence, voice of customer programs, pricing strategy, business case development, portfolio investment recommendations, product lifecycle management, and go-to-market execution.

Working closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Service, Finance, and regional leadership teams, the Product Director translates customer and market requirements into scalable product and service offerings that deliver measurable business value.

Success will be measured through portfolio growth, profitability, adoption rates, installed-base penetration, customer satisfaction, recurring revenue generation, and achievement of strategic business objectives.

 

Salary range: $126,907.00 - 191,181.00

Portfolio Strategy & Business Ownership

  • Develop and execute portfolio strategies aligned with NCS growth, profitability, and customer experience objectives.
  • Own assigned product portfolio performance including revenue growth, gross margin expansion, recurring revenue generation, and lifecycle profitability.
  • Develop multi-year product roadmaps aligned with customer needs, competitive dynamics, and strategic business objectives.
  • Identify market opportunities, growth initiatives, and portfolio gaps that support long-term business growth.
  • Establish portfolio investment priorities and support capital allocation decisions.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Lead products and services through all lifecycle stages including ideation, business case development, launch, growth, maturity, and end-of-life.
  • Ensure portfolio offerings remain competitive, differentiated, and aligned with market requirements.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and recommend actions related to expansion, optimization, or rationalization.
  • Monitor product performance and implement corrective actions when required.

Voice of Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain direct engagement with key customers and strategic accounts.
  • Lead Voice of Customer initiatives to identify unmet needs and emerging market opportunities.
  • Monitor competitive activity, industry trends, market dynamics, and technology developments.
  • Translate customer and market insights into product requirements and portfolio strategy.

Commercial Management

  • Develop pricing strategies that maximize value capture while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Support regional sales organizations through product positioning, value propositions, and sales enablement activities.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to drive adoption, market penetration, and portfolio growth.
  • Develop business cases supporting new products, service offerings, acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams to successfully develop, launch, and sustain products and services.
  • Align Sales, Service, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing stakeholders around portfolio objectives.
  • Drive execution excellence through effective planning, prioritization, and communication.
  • Resolve conflicts and remove barriers that may impact successful portfolio execution.

Digital Services & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to expand NCS digital capabilities, predictive maintenance offerings, IIoT solutions, remote monitoring services, and reliability programs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and business models that improve customer outcomes and create recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Support development of data-driven service offerings focused on uptime, asset performance, and lifecycle optimization.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain portfolio KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Provide regular portfolio performance updates to executive leadership.
  • Monitor portfolio risks and implement mitigation plans where necessary.
  • Ensure achievement of annual operating plan commitments and strategic objectives.

 

Supervisor Responsibility

The Product Director may provide leadership to Product Managers, Product Analysts, or cross-functional project teams. The role is expected to serve as a coach, mentor, and subject matter expert within the Product Management organization.

Qualifications

Work Environment

Work primarily in office environments, customer facilities, service centers, manufacturing locations, and field environments as required.

Global travel required to support customers, regional teams, and business initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Operations, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of product management, portfolio management, and lifecycle management principles.
  • Professional certifications in Product Management, Strategy, Marketing, or Project Management highly desirable.

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum 8-12 years of progressive experience in product management, aftermarket services, commercial leadership, engineering, operations, or related industrial business functions.
  • Demonstrated success managing product portfolios and delivering measurable business growth.
  • Experience developing business cases, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans.
  • Strong customer-facing experience and ability to translate customer needs into commercial solutions.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and matrix organizations.
  • Experience in industrial gases, cryogenics, rotating equipment, LNG, marine, hydrogen, or related process industries.
  • Experience with service agreements, reliability services, predictive maintenance, IIoT platforms, remote monitoring solutions, or digital service business models.
  • Experience leading global product portfolios and supporting international business operations.

 

Global travel required to support customers, regional teams, and business initiatives.
