The Role

The Quality Assurance Specialist – Flexible QA Operations will provide real-time, on-the-floor Quality oversight and flexible Quality Assurance support at Moderna’s cGMP manufacturing facility in Laval, Canada. The role supports manufacturing execution, commercial disposition, Document Control, Training Administration, and other Quality Operations priorities based on business demand.

Working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality Control, MS&T, Supply Chain, Digital/IT, and other functions, the Specialist will provide Quality oversight and expertise to enable safe, compliant, and efficient execution. The role requires independent decision-making, sound GMP judgment, and the ability to identify risks, make Quality decisions within assigned authority, and escalate issues that may impact product quality, compliance, operations, or supply. The position is designed as flexible QA capacity and may operate on a shift structure to support changing site and commercial priorities.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Flex across QA Operations, Commercial Disposition, Document Control, Training Administration, and other defined Quality activities according to site priorities, while maintaining clear role boundaries and required qualifications for assigned tasks.
• Provide on-the-floor Quality support (as needed) to Manufacturing, including real-time observation of activities and process operations to ensure compliance with approved procedures, specifications, and cGMP requirements.
• Perform routine walkthroughs of manufacturing suites to verify appropriate suite conditions, implementation of GMP best practices, and timely identification and escalation of compliance or operational concerns.
• Make Quality decisions within assigned authority and escalate issues to management when needed; identify risks and communicate Quality and GMP gaps that may impact operations, product quality, or compliance.
• Enforce adherence to cGMPs, SOPs, work instructions, manufacturing documentation, Good Documentation Practices, and applicable Quality System requirements.
• Partner with Manufacturing and support teams to initiate and triage deviation events.
• Support material master data and related workflows, including increased part creation/extensions and applicable MDG activities, as assigned.
• Support Commercial Disposition activities, including GMP confirmation/release execution, seasonal quality records, and commercial-release workload based on business priorities.
• Support Document Control activities, including controlled document issuance, reconciliation, archival, document revisions, periodic reviews, and records-management activities in accordance with approved procedures and retention requirements.
• Support Training Administration activities, including LMS assignments, training credits, extensions, reports, Training Impact Assessments, and routine training-compliance follow-up.
• Author, review, and support revision of controlled documents, including SOPs, work instructions, forms, and other Quality documentation, to ensure alignment with regulations and cGMP operations.
• Maintain and support Quality metrics, dashboards, trackers, action lists, and governance materials used to monitor Quality-system and operational performance.
• Support data gathering, document retrieval, and preparation for audits, inspections, self-inspections, compliance walkthroughs, and other inspection-readiness activities.
• Partner cross-functionally to identify process improvements and implement approved solutions that improve operational efficiency, documentation practices, Quality oversight, and team resilience.
• Practice safe work habits and adhere to Moderna’s safety procedures and guidelines.
• Complete all required training in a timely manner and perform assigned activities in accordance with approved SOPs, work instructions, and Quality System requirements.
• Contribute to special projects and other Quality Assurance activities as assigned.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 1–3 years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related regulated-industry experience with emphasis on current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Experience reviewing GMP documentation and working within Quality Systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work on-site at the Moderna Laval facility and operate within a shift structure as required by business needs.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and effectively use electronic Quality and manufacturing systems.
• The position requires proficiency in both French and English due to interactions with teams, partners, and tools located outside Quebec

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• Strong Quality mindset, independent judgment, attention to detail, and ability to make timely, risk-based decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and flex across manufacturing support, commercial release, and Quality-system activities as business demand changes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Quality, Manufacturing, QC, MS&T, Supply Chain, Digital/IT, and other functions.
• Experience with electronic batch records, deviation management, material release/disposition, document control, training administration, or related Quality Operations processes.
• Strong organizational skills and comfort working with data, trackers, dashboards, and electronic systems.
• A proactive, collaborative, and continuous-improvement mindset with a willingness to step into evolving priorities and support the team where Quality capacity is most needed.
• French and English communication skills are an asset for the Laval site.

La fourchette salariale pour ce poste est de $84,730.88 - $93,649.92. Cette fourchette représente le salaire de base minimal et maximal que nous prévoyons offrir pour ce poste selon notre structure de rémunération actuelle. Le salaire de base réellement offert à chaque employé est déterminé avec diligence, en tenant compte de facteurs tels que l’expérience pertinente, les compétences, les qualifications, la formation, le rendement et les besoins de l’entreprise.

The salary range for this role is $84,730.88 - $93,649.92. This range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay we expect to pay for this position based on our current compensation structure. The actual base pay offered to each employee is determined with due diligence, taking into account factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, education, performance, and business requirements.

We regularly review pay ranges and individual compensation to ensure competitiveness with the external market and to maintain internal equity in alignment with our company’s compensation and pay-transparency principles.

The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or an equity award, subject to applicable plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
