Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies

Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Communication and Media Studies invites applications for one tenured Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will have significant experience in Digital Media - Sports/Entertainment, understanding the mechanics of how the industry works and will be able to develop and train students in strategic communication and sports and entertainment production. We are an applied program with a focus on preparing students for meaningful work as communication strategists and content creators for industry. The successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in online, asynchronous classroom instruction and will be expected to maintain strong ties with industry to incorporate the latest pedagogical trends into the classroom to prepare students for jobs post-graduation. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. Preferred candidates should be able to teach one or more of the following areas in addition to Strategic Communication: Web Design, Podcasting, Social Media, Sports & Entertainment Production, Public Relations, Documentary Filmmaking, Communication Theory and/or Research.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Communication from an accredited university by the hire date.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Must be proficient in sports/entertainment production, social media, content creation and data analytics.
Experience in one or more: Web Design, Podcasting, Live Production, Public Relations,
Communication Theory and/or Research.
The ability to teach in a 100% asynchronous online delivery format, hybrid or face to face.
Ability to interact with students and graduate faculty.
