Technician Facility & Civil

The Technician Facility & Civil is responsible for carrying out inspections, maintenance, repairs, and minor construction works on terminal infrastructure and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role supports civil works, facility upkeep, contractor supervision, and infrastructure improvement while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Facilities and Civil Maintenance;

• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of terminal facilities and infrastructure.
• Participate in the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of yard areas and pavements, buildings and offices, drainage systems, roads and walkways, fencing and gates, warehouses, and other operational facilities.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs of water supply and sanitation systems.
• Perform minor civil works, including masonry, concreting, plastering, painting, paving, carpentry, and plumbing repairs.
• Monitor the condition of infrastructure and report defects, damages, and maintenance requirements for timely corrective action.
• Support emergency repair works arising from infrastructure breakdowns or damage.

B. Project Implementation and Quality Control;

• Participate in construction projects, renovations, rehabilitation works, and infrastructure improvement activities.
• Assist in supervising contractors to ensure that works are completed according to approved specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards.
• Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with required quality standards.
• Ensure the proper use, storage, and maintenance of workshop tools, equipment, and construction materials.

C. Maintenance Planning and Reporting;

• Support the implementation of civil inspection and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance reports, inspection records, and material usage reports.
• Coordinate with the Operations Department and other relevant departments regarding facility maintenance requirements.
• Monitor the condition and cleanliness of terminal facilities and surrounding areas, ensuring proper housekeeping practices.

D. Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance;

• Ensure that all civil inspection, maintenance, and repair activities are carried out in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation measures before and during work activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements, construction regulations, environmental standards, and organizational policies.
• Promote workplace safety and ensure that employees and contractors follow safe working practices.
• Maintain safety compliance throughout all maintenance, construction, and repair activities.

E. General Responsibilities;

• Work collaboratively with internal departments and contractors to ensure effective execution of facility maintenance activities.
• Identify and report potential infrastructure risks, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Management that are consistent with the role.

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

• Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Technology, or a related field.
• Additional training in construction, civil works, or facilities maintenance will be an added advantage.

• Good knowledge of construction, civil works, and facilities maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of building materials, construction equipment, and maintenance procedures.
• Basic practical knowledge of plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting, concreting, and paving works.
