Your responsibilities:

• Act as a practitioner and active contributor within the Quality Engineering and Testing (QE&T) Capability Community of Practice.
• Work within cross-functional teams across Lines of Business to coordinate testing, automation and quality engineering activities.
• Design tests through in-depth technical analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, specifications and solution architecture.
• Plan, execute and deliver testing across all relevant phases, including non-functional testing, while operating independently and collaboratively across delivery teams.
• Design, build, maintain and enhance automation frameworks; code, verify, amend and refactor automated tests, scripts and reusable libraries.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability from tests to requirements and ensure supporting evidence is complete and auditable.
• Support the Test Manager with test planning and with defining requirements for test environments, test data and tools.
• Contribute to the selection of fit-for-purpose automation approaches, standards and tools, and apply them to achieve well-engineered outcomes.
• Participate in reviews of your own work and lead peer reviews of colleagues’ automation assets and engineering practices.
• Interpret and execute complex test scenarios, analyse results, investigate failures and maintain accurate defect records.
• Report progress, system quality, test results, anomalies, risks and issues associated with projects and releases, supported by meaningful metrics.
• Implement and support the ASX Software Testing Policy and Guidelines within assigned work, tools and delivery contexts, maintaining relevant documentation.

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

Cloud and data platform testing

• Experience testing cloud and data platforms across AWS, Azure or GCP, with strong hands-on capability in AWS-hosted applications and data platforms.
• Design and implement automated testing for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, reconciliation and consumption processes.
• Validate data quality, completeness, accuracy, timeliness, lineage and integrity across source and target systems.
• Experience validating AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Lake Formation, DataZone, DMS and MWAA, where applicable.
• Experience testing microservices, container-based solutions, batch pipelines and event-driven integrations.
• Strong experience with ETL solutions, Business Objects, databases, SQL scripting, test environments and releases.

Automation engineering

• Extensive automation experience using Python, Java or C#, including designing, building and maintaining scalable, reusable and reliable test automation frameworks.
• Develop, verify, refactor and maintain automated test code and reusable libraries for functional, integration, API, data, regression and selected non-functional testing.
• Establish and apply standards for automation framework design, coding, naming, peer review and maintenance.
• Perform peer reviews and provide technical guidance to engineers and delivery partners.

CI/CD and quality feedback

• Integrate automated test suites into GitLab or equivalent CI/CD pipelines to provide timely feedback during build, deployment and release processes.
• Maintain version-controlled test assets using appropriate branching, review and release practices.
• Improve automated execution reliability, speed, maintainability and diagnostic capability, and support shift-left testing across the software delivery lifecycle.

Test strategy and planning

• Analyse functional and non-functional requirements, solution designs and architecture to define appropriate test approaches.
• Own and contribute to test strategies, plans, estimates, quality gates and delivery assurance activities.
• Apply ASX Quality Engineering and Testing policies, standards and approved tools.
• Contribute to the QE&T Community of Practice and identify improvements to testing methods, tools, automation patterns and engineering standards.

Stakeholder and delivery contribution

• Work within agile, cross-functional teams alongside engineering, architecture, business analysis, product, test and delivery management colleagues across ASX.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with business and technology stakeholders to coordinate testing and clearly communicate progress, quality, risks and issues.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI to accelerate test automation or improve quality engineering processes.
• Experience with Cucumber, SpecFlow, Pytest and JUnit.
• Exposure to non-functional testing, including performance, load and capacity testing, and automation using tools such as LoadRunner.
• Capital markets domain experience.
• Experience testing microservices and container-based architectures.
• Knowledge of messaging standards or protocols such as FpML, SWIFT or FIX.
• Knowledge of release management and test environment practices.
• Exposure to regulatory and audit-driven delivery environments.
• A strong continuous-improvement mindset.
