Recreation Program Instructor

Performs responsible semiskilled work instructing recreation classes. Develops and presents instructional classes, demonstrates and instructs activities to participants, accepts and processes registrations. This position also develops and conducts instructional programs for recreational activities and keeps participants informed of class schedules. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Recreation Program supervisor.

The hiring range for this position is $16.81 per hour to $23.13 per hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is $16.81 per hour to $29.42 per hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

• Carries out program plans, activities, and lessons;
• Sets up equipment or materials needed for a class and cleans up after program;
• Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public;
• Maintains and prepares equipment and facility and maintains related records;
• Enforces program and facility rules; 
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required;
• Performs related tasks as required.

• Knowledge and experience in specified activity; 
• Knowledge of customer service principles; 
• Knowledge of basic exercise science principles and theories; 
• Knowledge of recordkeeping principles; 
• Knowledge of specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment; 
• Knowledge of modern office technology including computers and related software applications;
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.;
• Ability to provide customer service; 
• Ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Graduation from high school and 1 year of experience as a target program instructor. Minimum age requirement: 18 years old. Prefer two (2) years teaching experience.
