Operations Supervisor

We are seeking a high-energy, safety-focused Front Load Operations Supervisor to lead our commercial front load driving team out of our Chesapeake, VA facility. In this role, you will oversee daily route operations, drive driver accountability and performance, foster a strong safety culture, and ensure exceptional service delivery across our local commercial accounts.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-energy, safety-focused Front Load Operations Supervisor to lead our commercial front load driving team out of our Chesapeake, VA facility. In this role, you will oversee daily route operations, drive driver accountability and performance, foster a strong safety culture, and ensure exceptional service delivery across our local commercial accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Driver Management

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and mentor front load drivers and operations support staff.
• Set daily schedules, assign routes, and manage driver logs, truck reports, and daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs).
• Promote positive employee relations, resolve workforce concerns, and drive high team morale.

Operations & Service Execution

• Monitor route efficiency and daily completion of commercial front load collections to maximize productivity and equipment utilization.
• Resolve customer complaints, service interruptions, and missed pick-ups promptly and professionally.
• Establish, review, and maintain operational and productivity standards across all shift phases.
• Maintain facility inventory for essential driver safety supplies and gear.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion a proactive safety culture that prevents accidents, eliminates injuries, and celebrates safe driver achievements.
• Ensure full operational compliance with local, state, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA/CDL) regulations.
• Conduct regular route observations, schedule and lead monthly safety meetings, and perform thorough accident investigations when needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience:Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in logistics, transportation, or route management, OR 1 year as a GFL Environmental Lead Driver.Prior operational experience in the waste/recycling industry or commercial truck driving (CDL environment) is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and route-optimization abilities.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of CDL regulations, DOT standards, and fleet safety practices.
