The Operations Supervisor responsibilities are planning, directing, and coordinating the seamless operations of Weekes Forest Products/WS distribution centers. Ensures and improves the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of departmental and organizational operations, as well as management of staff through the delivery of effective methods and strategies. This position will positively motivate all operations employees by example through strong leadership skills. As an integral part of the divisional management team, the operations manager will participate in department managers’ meetings to provide a positive influence on the present and future direction of the division.

• Provide and reinforce safety training and safe work practices, working closely with the Director of Safety and Division Leader.
• Supervise daily order fulfillment activities to ensure orders are completed accurately and meet customer requirements for product, quantity, and quality.
• Oversee the day-to-day movement and handling of inventory, including receiving, stock rotation, cycle counts, annual physical inventory counts, proper storage, and damage reduction.
• Ensure employees follow established operational procedures and documentation requirements, including pick tickets, proofs of delivery, bills of lading, receiving documentation, timekeeping, trip logs, and cycle counts.
• Monitor daily operations to support productivity, efficiency, and responsible use of labor, equipment, and resources.
• Reinforce quality control and loss prevention practices, including proper product handling and verification of outbound orders prior to shipment.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight activities, delivery scheduling, and outbound freight with third-party logistics (3PL) carriers.
• Maintain effective communication between operations, sales, drivers, and other departments to address operational needs and resolve issues.
• Meet regularly with the Division Leader to review daily activities, staffing needs, operational concerns, and priorities.
• Supervise, train, coach, and provide day-to-day direction to operations employees, including onboarding, ongoing training, performance feedback, and employee development.
• Participate in the employee performance review process.
• Review and approve employee timecards for accuracy and timely processing.
• Identify and escalate significant employee, safety, customer, inventory, or service concerns to the Division Leader or appropriate department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5 years in a supervisor position with knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management. Prefer at least 7 years experience in Lumber & Building Materials Industry
• Willing to jump in and roll up your sleeves to help out when necessary
• Follow safety expectations set by company safety policies
• Ability to communicate ideas based on job knowledge and expertise
• Operate at a steady, even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work
• Patient and stable work style, focused on consistency and repetitive routines
• A high level of customer service, team-oriented focus and communication is of utmost importance
• Attention to detail, with better-than-average accuracy and careful attention towards quality work
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screening
• Ability to handle critical decision-making, planning, and organizing
