Description
Trans Lease is seeking an experienced Director of Capital Markets & Syndications to build and lead the company's syndication and distribution capabilities. This newly created position will have significant autonomy to establish the relationships, processes, and infrastructure necessary to develop a scalable platform for the syndication, participation, and sale of equipment finance transactions originated by Trans Lease. The Director will be a commercially oriented, market facing leader who works closely with Sales and Credit to identify syndication opportunities, advise on transaction marketability and structure, develop external credit and transaction materials, cultivate capital partner relationships, and execute transactions through closing. The Director will also leverage industry relationships to generate referral and indirect origination opportunities that fit Trans Lease's credit appetite.
The position will lead potential portfolio sales and partner with the Vice President of Finance on select funding initiatives. The Vice President of Finance will retain responsibility for Trans Lease's treasury, bank facilities, and overall capital and funding strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Syndications & Distribution
- Lead the syndication, participation, and sale of equipment finance transactions originated by Trans Lease, including structuring, pricing, marketing, negotiation, diligence, documentation, and closing.
- Evaluate transactions and portfolios to determine appropriate distribution strategies based on credit, collateral, structure, pricing, market conditions, buyer appetite, and targeted economics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banks, equipment finance companies, institutional investors, and other capital partners, maintaining a strong understanding of their credit appetite, transaction preferences, pricing expectations, and structural requirements.
- Negotiate transaction economics and terms with capital partners and drive syndication volume and fee income while balancing execution certainty, customer requirements, credit considerations, and Trans Lease's targeted economics.
Sales, Credit & Transaction Development
- Work closely with Sales to identify syndication opportunities early in the origination process and provide market feedback regarding transaction size, pricing, structure, expected hold levels, and buyer appetite.
- Partner with Credit to understand internally underwritten transactions and translate internal credit materials into marketable syndication packages, credit presentations, and diligence materials for prospective buyers.
- Coordinate with Credit and other internal teams to respond to buyer diligence requests and provide market feedback regarding buyer appetite, pricing expectations, structural considerations, and transaction marketability.
- Regularly review the origination pipeline and existing portfolio with Sales and Credit to identify transactions or pools appropriate for syndication, participation, or sale.
Business Development & Referral Opportunities
- Leverage relationships with banks, equipment finance companies, independents, intermediaries, and other market participants to identify transactions that may fit Trans Lease's credit and origination appetite.
- Develop Trans Lease as a trusted referral partner for transactions other lenders or finance companies are unable or elect not to retain, and coordinate those opportunities with Sales and Credit through Trans Lease's normal underwriting and approval process.
- Represent Trans Lease at industry conferences, networking events, and other business development opportunities to expand syndication, buyer, and referral relationships.
Portfolio Sales & Finance Partnership
- Lead potential portfolio sales, including developing the buyer universe, preparing offering materials, evaluating proposals, coordinating diligence, and executing transactions through closing.
- Partner with the Vice President of Finance on bank line refinancings and other funding initiatives by providing market intelligence, supporting lender outreach, and assisting with transaction materials and proposal evaluation.
Platform Development & Market Intelligence
- Build and continuously improve Trans Lease's syndication platform, including transaction workflows, buyer and diligence materials, relationship management tools, processes, and reporting.
- Maintain systems for tracking capital partner relationships, investment criteria, pricing, transaction history, pipeline activity, referral opportunities, execution economics, and fee income.
- Monitor equipment finance and broader credit markets and provide senior leadership, Sales, and Credit with current intelligence regarding buyer appetite, pricing, spreads, transaction structures, and competitive market conditions.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in equipment finance, commercial lending, syndications, capital markets, or a related field, with demonstrated experience executing equipment finance syndications, loan or lease sales, participations, or portfolio sales.
- Strong understanding of commercial credit with the ability to analyze complex transactions and develop external credit and transaction materials for banks and institutional buyers.
- Established relationships with banks, equipment finance companies, institutional investors, and other capital providers strongly preferred.

- Strong negotiation, relationship management, business development, and communication skills with the ability to operate independently and build a new function with limited existing infrastructure.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically for meetings at Trans Lease headquarters in Denver, company sales meetings, industry conferences, and other business related events.
Compensation
- Trans Lease offers a competitive base salary and incentive compensation program designed to reward syndication production, fee income, referral activity, and other revenue generated through the Capital Markets function.
