Description
Job Description
The Associate Marketing Manager acts as the campaign specialist for an assigned Scaled Event (Anniversary or Holiday), plus 1–2 additional Brand Marketing programs. This role owns the translation of programs strategic design and goals to end-to-end tactical execution across store fronts (physical and digital), channels, and enterprise partners — knowing the full breadth of what it takes to bring a program to life and driving the go-to-market plans needed to hit business outcomes.
Partnerships in this space span the enterprise end-to-end — NMG, Loyalty, PMO, Creative, Digital Merchandising, Email Marketing, PR, Media, Events, Social, and Stores/Field teams. The Associate Manager operates with a high degree of independence and decision quality, serving as the last reviewer of tactical campaign creative, channel plans, and marketing retros before they move forward.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Campaign Planning & Brief Ownership: Contributes to the marketing strategy that informs the brief for campaigns, synthesizing and translating retros, business insights, customer data, and prior-season performance into action.
- Content Strategy & Messaging: Contributes to developing messaging frameworks and audience-level messaging matrices for assigned programs, ensuring a consistent brand voice across all channels and touchpoints.
- Channel Strategy: Sets and collaborates on channel strategy independently across owned and paid programs for playbook marketing plans — making / informing decisions on optimizations based on data-backed insights.
- Campaign Set-up and Tactical Planning: Aligns with PMO on execution timelines and actively scopes campaigns in Workfront Planner, ensuring every workstream across channels and locations is delivering as expected.
- Campaign & Creative Approval: Serves as the last-to-view and send for approval on final tactical campaign creative, channel plans, and retros — checking execution against the brief, scoping, and channel strategy across touchpoints.
- Campaign Overviews & Recaps: Builds and presents campaign overviews and recaps to leadership independently, synthesizing performance into forward-looking tactical recommendations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manages partner relationships independently across the enterprise and agency, as relevant. Drives alignment across teams without manager involvement and resolves blockers at the program level.
- Marketing Tool Management: Updates and manages relevant company tools (marketing calendar, campaign planners, Workfront) to ensure timely, effective execution across every program in flight.
- Market Research: Conducts market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights, using this data to inform channel and messaging strategy.
- Industry Trends: Stays current on industry trends, emerging content formats, and applications of AI to campaign development, sharing insights and recommendations to drive innovation across the team.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Drives Results: Persists in accomplishing objectives, even under evolving or tough circumstances; owns outcomes end-to-end, not just outputs.
- Manages Complexity: Juggles multiple programs and planning horizons at once; proactively identifies scope risks and trade-offs and makes calls, with or without manager prompting.
- Strategic Mindset: Connects own work to broader organizational strategy; sets KPIs and a learning agenda before a program launches, and ties results back to business impact.
- Decision Quality: Knows when to act independently and when to escalate; makes sound day-to-day decisions on tactical creative, plans, and retros.
- Builds Trust: Gains the confidence and trust of partners and agencies through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
- Communicates Effectively: Presents independently to L19+ leadership; influences decisions above their level through credibility and preparation.
- Has Courage: Shows conviction and guides others through adversity; flags strategic misalignment before it needs to be escalated.
- Develops People: Gives feedback constructively and shares expertise to help peers and junior team members grow.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of marketing experience, with a track record in brand marketing, campaign management, or digital marketing; familiarity with loyalty marketing a plus.
- Experience supporting high-visibility, multi-channel retail campaign strongly preferred; experience in the retail e-commerce sector is a plus.
- Results-oriented, with experience driving business outcomes against defined KPIs and turning performance data into forward-looking recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional partners independently across a matrixed, enterprise environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to and influencing senior (L19+) leadership without manager support.
- Proficient in Claude, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Workfront (or comparable project/campaign management tools); willing and able to quickly learn new tools and emerging technologies, including AI.
- Shows aptitude and interest in mentorship and leadership of peers; no people management experience required.
