POSITION SPECIFICS
Teaching Faculty Position in Enterprise Technology Integration
The Department of Human-Centered Computing and Social Informatics (HCCSI) in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an open-rank teaching faculty position in Enterprise Technology Integration (ETI), beginning in January or July of 2027 at the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. This is a non-tenure-line term appointment with an excellent possibility of renewal as a multi-year appointment. Fully remote appointments are not permitted for this hire.
The ETI program prepares students to design, integrate, and deliver technology solutions inside real organizations. We are looking for a colleague who has done this work at enterprise level and wants to teach it.
Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching, training or mentoring, and a desire to collaborate with ETI and IST faculty on curricular innovation and development. A commitment to teaching learners at all levels and from all backgrounds is essential, as is an interest in continued learning, especially in the areas of agentic AI, orchestration, and automation. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses. University service is also expected of teaching faculty.
The faculty member hired for this position will primarily teach upper-level undergraduate courses, including enterprise systems integration, advanced database management, enterprise analytics, cloud computing, IT project management, technology adoption and organizational change, and enterprise AI solution delivery. The role includes advising and coaching student teams in capstone courses where students deliver solutions for real clients. Additional topics may include, but are not limited to: distributed databases; API and integration platforms; responsible AI in enterprise settings; and enterprise application development, CI/CD, containerization, deployment, and application lifecycle management. Some introductory teaching may be needed to meet program needs.
Applicants must hold a master's degree or PhD by the appointment start date with Penn State, in a field such as information sciences and technology, informatics, information systems, computer science, data science, business, or education. Applicants must also have substantial enterprise-level technology experience, such as leading or managing systems administration, enterprise systems integration, data and analytics, cloud platforms, or technology implementation. Please use your cover letter to describe the scale and complexity of the environments you have worked in. Experience in corporate settings is strongly valued. Candidates will be considered for a teaching faculty rank commensurate with their education and experience in accordance with Penn State policy AC21.
Applicants will include the following materials with their application: i) cover letter detailing your qualifications for the position, including your enterprise technology experience; ii) teaching statement; iii) curriculum vitae or resume; and iv) contact information for at least three professional references. Please limit your teaching statement to two pages and describe your teaching philosophy, your experience teaching, training, or mentoring, and the techniques you use to engage learners. Please also indicate the courses from our program that you would be excited to teach, as well as any new courses you would like to develop. Please upload one document that combines the above materials into a single PDF.
Inquiries about the position may be directed to [email protected].
Review of applications begins on December 1, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
