Description
The Department of Chemistry at Emory University invites applications for a teaching track professor (open rank) position in Organic or Biochemical/Biophysical Chemistry to teaching both lecture and/or laboratory courses. The candidate will be appointed as Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor depending on qualifications and years of experience in a similar role. This is a career-track position with full faculty governance rights and responsibilities, competitive salary and benefits, with potential for regular term renewal and promotion through the teaching track ranks. The expected start date is in the fall of 2027.
The candidate will join a cohesive group of tenure- (28) and teaching-track (7) faculty who teach in our innovative undergraduate curriculum, Chemistry Unbound (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/acs.jchemed.8b00585). The candidate will be committed to excelling professionally in a department of supportive colleagues who believe that excellence is achieved both individually and collectively. Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: Completion of a Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry, biochemistry, or biophysical chemistry is required at the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate chemistry lecture and/or laboratory courses
- Demonstrated commitment to working towards collective goals in a team setting
- Experience in evidence-based pedagogy and instructional creativity
- Supervising and collaborating with graduate teaching assistants and undergraduate learning assistants
