Our employees enjoy benefits including:
Low Cost Employee Health plan, Dental, Vision, STD/LTD, Fully-paid Basic Life, Voluntary Life, Whole Life, Accident, Hospitalization, Critical Illness, EAP and a 401k Plan with Company Match & Profit Sharing.
Summary of Primary Functions: The Master Mechanic is responsible for ensuring maximum operational uptime, reliability, and safety of all production machinery and heavy fleet assets within the prestressed/precast manufacturing facility. This high-level technical role encompasses advanced diagnostics, precision maintenance, structural fabrication, and emergency repairs on highly specialized concrete industrial systems and mobile equipment.
- Automated Concrete Batch Plant: Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and emergency repairs on cement silos, aggregate weigh batchers, conveyor systems, high-capacity pan/twin-shaft mixers, and pneumatic delivery gates.
- Heavy Lifting & Material Handling: Lead mechanical, structural, and hydraulic servicing for high-tonnage Travelift (straddle/gantry) cranes and heavy-duty industrial forklifts (up to 80k+ lbs capacity) utilized to transport precast elements.
- Industrial Fleet & Logistics: Maintain and overhaul tactical yard vehicles including spot trucks (yard mules), ready-mix cement trucks, and specialized concrete transport equipment.
- Small Engine & Production Equipment: Manage repair cycles for auxiliary production machinery including high-pressure hydraulic stressing pumps, concrete vibrators, power trowels, portable generators, and pneumatic hand tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
- Execute advanced mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting on complex industrial manufacturing systems.
- Diagnose and repair heavy diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, and braking systems across the facility's mobile fleet.
- Troubleshot low-voltage control systems and 480V three-phase electrical systems safely (including electric motors, relays, and starters).
- Perform structural welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and torch-cutting to repair machinery frames, forms, and batch plant wear plates.
- Implement and evolve the plant's preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize catastrophic runtime failures.
- Interpret complex technical schematics, blueprints, engineering documents, and service manuals.
- Maintain meticulous logs of all repairs, parts usage, and compliance inspections within the facility tracking software.
- Strictly enforce and adhere to all OSHA, MSHA, and company-specific safety policies, with zero tolerance for deviations.
- Execute robust Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols prior to servicing any energetic batch plant or manufacturing components.
- Technical guidance and mentorship responsibilities with other Mechanics.
- Ensure all lifting equipment, rigging hardware, and cranes comply with annual certification and daily safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shop and field-repair environment.
Job Specification or Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally within a precast concrete facility, heavy aggregate plant, or mining operation.
- Technical Certifications: Certified Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic, Advanced Hydraulic Certification, or AWS Welding Certification strongly preferred.
- Electrical Proficiency: Proven capability diagnosing 480V 3-phase industrial power and low voltage AC/DC control circuits.
- Tooling: Must possess a comprehensive personal inventory of master-level professional hand tools.
- Availability: Flexibility to work extended hours, or weekends based on production demands.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in rugged, unconditioned industrial environments subject to extreme heat, cold, dust, moisture, and high noise levels.
- Capability to lift up to 75 lbs independently and perform physically demanding work including climbing silos, crawling under fleet vehicles, and working at heights.
- Constant standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching over long shifts.
