The Canada Payments Programs Advisor is responsible for the end‑to‑end coordination, execution, and optimization of payment-related programs, including payment offers, gift cards, fuel discounts, and mobile app initiatives. The role operates at the intersection of marketing, operations, technology, and external partners, ensuring seamless delivery of programs aligned with business objectives and performance targets.
This role supports the development and execution of annual and tactical plans, translating strategy into action through strong cross-functional coordination and stakeholder alignment. The individual is accountable for managing day‑to‑day program execution, optimizing consumer offers and journeys, and ensuring performance against defined KPIs and SLAs.
A key component of the role involves managing vendor and partner relationships, supporting marketing initiatives and communications, and leveraging insights from data, market trends, and consumer behavior to drive continuous improvement. The role also owns the oversight of accounting and operational processes, including budgeting, invoicing, forecasting, reconciliations, and reporting, while ensuring adherence to governance, controls, and compliance requirements.
Additionally, the role provides support for digital and mobile app initiatives, resolves operational issues and escalations, and contributes to program stability and customer experience. It also supports secure data handling practices required for payment programs.
Overall, this role combines program management, marketing execution, program stewardship, and stakeholder leadership to ensure effective delivery, governance, and continuous optimization of payment programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management & Planning
Develop and execute payment offer annual plans in collaboration with client stakeholders (Vendor partners, Field Marketing, Marcom, and PLSO)
Engage with the Marketing team in the development and review of present and future 1YSMP (one year sales and marketing plan)
Develop and execute tactical plans while identifying opportunities to enhance consumer offers and journeys
Coordinate communication to ensure alignment and shared understanding of plans, KPIs, and SLAs
Program Execution & Optimization
Collaborate with adjacent teams and third-party vendors to execute tactical plans, establishing regular connects with stakeholders
Identify and act on opportunities to optimize consumer offers and journeys through targeting and performance management (including D2C). Lead exploration and ideas generation
Execute Employee and Annuitant Fuel Discount Program (Brand Ambassador program)
Continuously optimize campaigns, promotions, and program deployment based on internal and external market factors
Marketing & Consumer Engagement
Proactively identify and communicate payment technology enablement, trends, and insights on consumer behaviors and preferences.
Explore opportunities with existing vendors and bring forward added value programs
Understand Marcom strategy to support program KPIs and SLAs and contribute to their development
Work with Marcom in the development of creative briefs
Lead on investigating and troubleshooting, helping drive clarity and improving resolution speed
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Maintain alignment across ExxonMobil marketing, stakeholders (Marcom, Partnerships, Field Marketing), and vendors
Interface with marketing partners, third-party vendors, Contractor Data & Analytics Pod, and agencies to leverage insights and drive volume and profitability
Drive vendor partner execution on marketing plans, D2C opportunities, and plan adjustments
Collaborate with PLSO team on operational and technical requests related to payment programs
Digital & App Support
Manage Esso & Mobil app issues in coordination with Helpdesk teams to resolve consumer-facing issues and escalations.
Escalate and engage process partners as needed to help coordinate issue resolution and drive forward the resolution through collaboration with others
Support agency coordination for app-related execution, including translation requirements
Support delivery of app objectives, including penetration, promotions, and performance
Payments & Product Partnerships
Work with ESI (vendor) to identify and assess gift card promotional opportunities and performance
Collaborate with card issuers and payments vendors to support initiatives across Esso and Mobil sites (e.g., co-branded cards)
Performance & Optimization
Optimize income by developing recommendations based on market intelligence and competitive analysis
Work with PLSO to identify opportunities to optimize transaction costs
Business Reviews & Reporting
Coordinate and participate in business reviews with third-party vendors and partners
Manage Gift Card monthly accounting reporting, including breakage, cancellations, and journal entries tracking
Accounting stewardship and oversight across programs
Steward and communicate budgets, manage POs, and track expenditures
Ensure accurate OPEX and cost-of-sales forecasting
Manage funds allocation in alignment with stakeholders, marketing contracts and business objectives
High level oversight, point of escalation for ESI if there are challenges
Monthly stewardship of results needs to be executed / managed
Compliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to processes and control requirements
Support audits and internal assessments as required
Basic Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in marketing, payments, loyalty programs, or program execution roles
Advanced English (C1)
Proven ability to manage end-to-end program execution and multiple concurrent priorities
Strong experience coordinating cross-functional teams (marketing, finance, operations, technology)
Experience managing vendor relationships and external partners
Solid understanding of marketing campaigns, promotions, and consumer journeys (including D2C)
Experience with budget management, forecasting, invoicing, and financial tracking
Strong ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
High level of organization, attention to detail, and accountability
High School Degree
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, Communications, or related field
