The Cooper Standard Spartanburg, SC manufacturing plant is looking to hire an Automation Tech!
Position Summary:
The Automation Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated systems and equipment within our manufacturing plant. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of our production processes, contributing to the overall success of our operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues in automated systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize automation processes.
- Maintain automated machinery and control systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on automated equipment.
- Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of repairs and modifications.
- Train and support production staff on the operation of automated systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all automation activities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
- Must actively support production, resolving issues as they arise, to minimize downtime.
- Supports the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- Assists with development of specifications, new tools, processes and training procedures.
- Utilizes disciplined and proven problem-solving techniques to determine root cause analysis for equipment downtime and customer complaints and develops permanent corrective actions.
- Champions scrap reduction activities in assigned area of responsibility. Supports, contributes, and demonstrates lean manufacturing principles in work area.
- Continuously works toward achieving goals and measurables of the facility.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and facility standards in ISO14001, ISO45001, IATF 16949, including safety and environmental guidelines.
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Ability to analyze equipment and processes in an industrial environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, and control systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
