Senior Manager – Scope & Requirements

Hybrid based from either Derby, Manchester or Warrington

We anticipate a salary between £71,000.00 - £93,200.00 DOE

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge. We are in a unique position to become a world leader in SMR technology and one of the UK's most significant clean energy and export success stories.

The Project Management Office (PMO) plays a critical role in enabling disciplined, predictable and effective programme delivery across Rolls-Royce SMR. Working at the centre of our integrated programme controls capability, the team establishes the frameworks, governance and assurance processes that provide confidence in delivery, support informed decision-making and help manage complexity at scale.

In this context, we are looking for a Senior Manager - Scope and Requirements to join our PMO, reporting to the Head of Integrated Programme Controls.

This is a highly visible role that will shape and mature our enterprise-wide scope, requirements and change management capability, ensuring critical programmes are delivered with clarity, control and confidence while helping to power the future of clean energy.

We will need you to:

  • Lead and continuously improve our scope and requirements management framework, standards and governance approach across projects, programmes and portfolio activities.
  • Establish clear traceability between requirements, scope, assumptions, risks, delivery baselines and decision records to support effective programme control.
  • Oversee the Change Management Framework, ensuring proposed changes are assessed, governed, approved and implemented in a controlled and auditable manner.
  • Partner with Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Risk, Delivery and Programme teams to ensure scope and requirements are managed as an integrated system that supports successful delivery outcomes.

The Impact

This is an opportunity to build and influence a critical capability at the heart of a rapidly growing organisation. Your work will provide senior leaders with confidence that scope, requirements and change are aligned with strategic priorities, delivery commitments and governance expectations.

By creating greater transparency, consistency and control, you will directly contribute to the successful delivery of one of the UK's most ambitious clean energy programmes, helping to shape the future of low-carbon power generation.

What’s in it for you?

We anticipate a salary of £71,000.00 - £93,200.00 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring.

We also offer excellent benefits including:

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 17%
  • Benefits Allowance - £5000, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Significant experience developing, implementing or improving scope management, requirements management or change control frameworks within complex project, programme or portfolio environments.
  • Experience of requirements capture, scope definition, baseline control, change impact assessment and governance within large-scale infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of requirements traceability, baseline management, integrated project controls and change governance.
  • The ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across a matrix environment.
  • Professional membership, or a commitment to working towards membership, with organisations such as APM, PMI, INCOSE, ACostE, AACE or a related professional body would be advantageous.

Location

We offer flexible hybrid working and are committed to supporting a healthy work-life balance. This role can be based from our offices in Derby, Warrington or Manchester, with office attendance expectations discussed throughout the recruitment process to ensure they align with both business and individual needs.
