ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Team Lead SAP MM & IS-Retail, you will lead a talented team of functional consultants dedicated to keeping Zalando’s massive supply chain core running flawlessly. You will bridge the gap between high-volume e-commerce demands and robust SAP architecture, specifically driving the strategy for Materials Management, IS-Retail, Inventory Management, and Material Valuation.

In the world of fashion e-commerce, inventory isn't static. You and your team will ensure that millions of articles are correctly listed, tracked, and financially valued as they move through our fulfillment network.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• People Leadership: Mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of SAP Functional Consultants. You foster an environment of continuous learning, psychological safety, and high performance.

• Inventory & Valuation Ownership: Driving the design and optimization of complex inventory processes, split valuations (crucial for our returns lifecycle), and integrations with external Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

• SAP Architecture & Strategy: Leading the roadmap for SAP MM and IS-Retail. You will ensure that system configurations can handle Zalando’s peak traffic events without a hitch.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with Finance, Logistics, and Product teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions within our SAP landscape.

• Agile Delivery: Managing team backlogs, prioritizing sprints, and ensuring high-quality, clean configurations and documentation.

• Strategic Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary bridge between your tech and diverse business units (including Finance, Warehouse Management, Buying, and Logistics). You will proactively manage expectations, navigate conflicting priorities, and align stakeholders on a unified roadmap.

• Translating Business into Tech: Turn high-level e-commerce business requirements into scalable, robust SAP solutions. You ensure that when the  business launches a new initiative, your SAP backend is ready to support the inventory and financial valuation side of it.

• Escalation Management: Manage senior business stakeholder expectations during business-critical system disruptions by providing transparent root-cause analyses, risk assessments, and recovery timelines. 

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• The Leadership Track Record: You have proven experience leading, mentoring, or functionally guiding a team of SAP professionals in an agile environment.

• SAP Expertise: Deep functional knowledge of SAP MM (Purchasing, Inventory Management, Physical Inventory) and SAP IS-Retail (Article Master, Merchandise Categories, Listing).

• Valuation: Strong expertise in Material Valuation (Standard Price vs. Moving Average, Split Valuation) and its integration with SAP FI/CO. You understand the financial implications of inventory movements.

• E-Commerce or High-Volume Data Background: You are used to large-scale data. You understand that managing inventory for a fashion e-commerce giant involves unique challenges like high return rates and rapid stock turns.

• Tech-Forward Mindset: Experience with SAP S/4HANA is highly preferred. Familiarity with cloud environments and modern API integrations is a massive plus.

• Communication Skills: Fluency in English, with the ability to explain complex technical SAP architecture to non-technical business stakeholders.
