The role focuses on creating a safe and healthy environment for children while ensuring compliance with all internal and external policies. Responsibilities include planning and implementing educational activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development. Classroom supervision should align with company goals and values, fostering a positive atmosphere for both children and staff. Additionally, building strong relationships with parents and colleagues is essential, along with conducting ongoing assessments to track and communicate children's developmental progress

Leadership:

General duties:

  • Supervise and monitor the children at all times.
  • Implement all activities in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Use positive redirection, positive language and positive reinforcement to guide the children in your care.
  • Recognize, document and take appropriate action of suspected child abuse and neglect, illness or accident.
  • Plan, develop, prepare, and implement educational activities including a variety of themes and subjects, such as language development, math development, diversity, gross and fine motor skills development, self-help skill development, science, art, music, health and hygiene and self-esteem. 
  • Individualize one-to-one and group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all in each group.
  • Follow a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences for each child.
  • Enhance the program using a variety of techniques which include modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing for the children.
  • Observe, assess and evaluate each child’s progress in your group keeping written records.
  • Respect and communicate in a professional manner with parents to build long term relationships with families.
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis on each child’s progress and the activities of each area (daily notes home, what we did today, notes posted to door, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning child issues and handle this information in an appropriate manner.
  • Promote and maintain good working relationships with other staff members as well as members of the management team.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings

Administrative Compliance:

Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time. 

Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. 

Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls

Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry

Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively


Facility & Safety:

  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others


Data & Reporting:

  • Use database reports to create resource development strategies and marketing plans - MyClubHub (a Salesforce platform), MailChimp, Greater Giving
  • Use data to inform key talking points for speakers, create headlines for Press releases, and build an Annual Report 
  • Maintain the Website with current information
  • Oversee the photo and story repository


Relationships:

  • Be a positive role model 
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner


Attendance:

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required


Nonessential Duties:

Complete all other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma 
  • Associates Degree/CDA preferred
  • Must meet or exceed licensing requirements for age, education and experience


Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year experience in a licensed child care facility that includes infant and preschool.
  • Must be proficient with the use of workforce technology (i.e. computers and smartphones) with the ability to complete basic tasks including but not limited to electronic lesson planning, sending and managing emails, navigating data bases, keeping files and folders organized, using the internet, and other basic functions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical demands:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Requires daily standing, sitting, bending and stooping.

Work environment:

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Exposure to childhood diseases.
  • Ability to work overtime and odd schedules.
