Job Summary
This position helps ensure the company makes sound financial decisions. He/She analyzes and interprets client data or identifies trends used by senior managers to make strategic company decisions. This position works on multiple reports simultaneously, focusing on details while finding creative ways to tackle big picture challenges. He/She collaborates with finance partners across the country to consult on planning and reporting. This position assists others in understanding financial reports, graphs, and charts.
This position is responsible for supporting the monthly accounting close process and general ledger for UPS Capital Americas Region entities. He/She prepares monthly journal entries and conducts monthly account reconciliations. The Specialist processes inter-company charges and reviews international expenses. He/She is responsible for certain internal or external audit inquiries and explanations.
Responsibilities:
- Researches and interprets financial data to ensure leaders have the most up to date and reliable information to help make the best possible decisions.
- Researches requested expenses and project trends for staff, division, business, and center managers to ensure operation within budget guidelines.
- Assists in performing variance analysis of actual versus planned data to identify areas where targeted projections are not being obtained.
- Prepares and reviews journal entries for UPS international entities to ensure accuracy of monthly financial reporting.
- Calculates and prepares journal entry data (i.e., monthly accrual amounts) to record transactions into the general ledger.
- Inputs journal entries into Oracle general ledger system to properly record transactions in the financial statements.
- Follows up on aged items within the general ledger reconciliation to ensure proper disposition in the financial statements.
- Gathers key data to prepare general ledger reconciliations.
- Gathers and uploads documentation supporting the general ledger to adhere to company guidelines and audit requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or International equivalent in Accounting
- Experience with auditing - Preferred
- Experience demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Excel and Access)
- Advanced English
