The AI Engineering Team develops applications and services that enable and accelerate AI adoption across The Walt Disney Company. The organization plays a critical business role by turning emerging capabilities into real, scalable business impact. We aim to unlock exponential value, accelerate innovation, and enable future-ready AI platforms, collaboration tools, and quality engineering services.

Our goal is to elevate AI as an enterprise accelerator and rewire how we work to deliver speed, value, and impact across the enterprise.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve our internal AI platform tooling. You'll build systems that help the organization safely adopt, monitor, and govern AI models across multiple providers.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with a team of three or more engineers to produce net new services including automated testing, CI/CD, and containerized hosting

• Build and maintain integrations with AI provider APIs, handling authentication, rate limiting, and graceful degradation

•    Design resilient systems using circuit breakers, retry logic, and fallback strategies

• Solve complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions

• Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams

• Work within broad guidelines and policies

• Work to build consensus among team members

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and Express (or similar backend frameworks)

• Experience with API creation and consumption in REST or GraphQL

• Experience third-party API integrations

• Experience with Software Design and Architectural design, preferably in a Cloud environment

• Understanding of resilience patterns (retries, circuit breakers, timeouts)

• Experience with scheduled jobs and background processing

• Comfortable writing tests (Mocha/Chai or similar)

• Clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI/ML platforms or APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI)

• Familiarity with compliance workflows or approval systems

• Highly prefer experience with identity management and RBAC

• Experience with SQL

• Knowledge of Docker and container-based deployments

• Experience with automated testing, ideally within CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $141,900 - $180,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
