Job Description
As a key member of Amcor's Rigid Packaging Solutions North America Research & Development team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of packaging innovation. This position leads the technical execution of new product development projects from early-stage research and concept development through commercialization. Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and business teams, you will drive innovative solutions while managing project scope, performance requirements, timelines, budgets, and successful market implementation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all stages of product innovation projects, which include scoping, ideation, proof of concept, proof of principle, business case, implementation, and commercialization.
- Utilize the model shop and 3D printing resources to drive prototype design and development.
- Work with the pilot plant on installation and start-up of new/prototype molds or tooling.
- Demonstrate strong project leadership through data-driven decision-making, effective risk management, and disciplined execution to achieve project objectives within established timelines and budgets.
- Responsible for reporting deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as project progresses.
- Ensure compliance with Amcor policies, applicable industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Comply with and promote all company Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), regulatory, and Department of Health requirements

- Lead assigned projects to achieve intended business and technical outcomes.
- Recommend project funding and resource requirements
- Influence project team behaviors and decisions necessary to achieve project objectives
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (related field) or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced technical degree preferred
Practical:
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing and product innovation.
- Experience with 2D design and 3D CAD modeling programs
- Prior experience working in a packaging development and innovation environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required to support data driven project management.
- Demonstrated commitment to Amcor values, ethical standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple concurrent assignments
- Demonstrated creativity and innovative problem-solving skills with a strong focus on achieving measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage employees, technical teams, operations personnel, and leadership.
- Ability to complete / maintain required Training and Certifications to safely work within lab or production facilities including but not limited to Arc Flash, Fall Protection, equipment specific training, and basic hand tools/inspection processes.
- Ability to travel as needed (up to 20% as needed).
Physical Considerations (Based on Production Environment Risks):
- Hearing ability sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
- Sufficient physicality to traverse obstacles while maintaining balance
- Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
- Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection).
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. a minimum of 10 times a day.
- Sufficient vision to safely traverse industrial or lab environments
- Able to see and identify colors.
- Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
