Rail Modal Group is opening an Operations Lead position in Hudson, CO to support our supply chain solution rail terminal. This role will oversee terminal operations, leading a team of mechanics and a driver to keep the site running safely and efficiently. As RMG continues to expand across new markets, the Hudson Operations Lead will be a key part of building strong operational standards at the terminal and ensuring it reflects the same reliability and service our customers expect from RMG. We're looking for a hands on leader ready to take ownership of the site's daily performance and grow with the team as the terminal scales.
Position Overview:
The Lead is a vital member of the RMG operations team, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of agricultural products within the facility. This role supports all departments in a fast-paced environment that demands a strong focus on safety, productivity, and operational excellence. The Lead must understand and apply best practices while effectively communicating operational progress to ensure successful loading of cargo, shuttle wagon operation, transload processes, and overall yard organization. By coordinating these functions, the Lead plays a key role in maintaining a smooth, efficient flow of products and supporting the success of the entire operation.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform all site operations safely and efficiently, following company standards and best practices.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections on all equipment prior to operation.
- Safely operate heavy equipment as needed.
- Help relay and achieve daily operational goals set by leadership.
- Develop a thorough understanding of yard layout.
- Immediately report any damage, accidents, or injuries to leadership.
- Train new employees joining the operations teams.
- Manage employees including scheduling, coaching, training, and policy adherence.
- Support any operational needs as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment operations or agriculture
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, reporting systems, and terminal operating systems
- Ability to occasionally lift over 50 lbs and push/pull up to 80 lbs
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
