It is key to becoming one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. We are global collaborators who achieve together—researching, manufacturing and delivering ever-better products that reach over 10 million patients worldwide. Supply Chain Mgr – Global Distribution Operations

What you will do

In this vital role, you will lead a team of Supply Chain Subject Matter Experts responsible for Operations Support and Reverse Logistics Order-to-Cash activities across our regions. The team supports the movement of products from customers and external partners back to Amgen sites, while also providing operational, compliance, analytical, and continuous-improvement support to the Global Distribution Hubs.

You will be accountable for day-to-day execution, team capability, workload and resource planning, process performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working with a high degree of independence, you will translate business priorities into clear operating plans and ensure that internal and external stakeholders receive reliable, compliant, and high-quality supply chain support.

You will partner closely with senior management, Finance, Information Systems, Quality and Compliance, Customer Experience, Commercial teams, Global Transportation Excellence, distribution sites, warehouses, logistics service providers, and transportation service providers.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world.

In this vital role, you will:

  • Lead the daily execution of Operations Support and Reverse Logistics Order-to-Cash activities
  • Direct, coach, and develop a team of Subject Matter Experts responsible for operational support, reverse logistics, compliance, analytics, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Own team capacity, resource, and workload planning, ensuring the organization is appropriately staffed and qualified to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and manage team members, including performance management, development planning, succession planning, and assignment of staff to projects and operational activities.
  • Ensure that critical recurring processes—including shipments, returns, process checks, reconciliations, reporting, and operational controls—are planned and completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
  • Establish and maintain clear procedures, process governance, operating standards, and key performance indicators for activities within the team’s scope.
  • Use data and analytics to identify performance trends, support decision-making, prioritize improvement opportunities, and improve business outcomes.
  • Independently determine solutions and operating approaches that provide a superior support experience to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage operational risks, issues, and customer escalations, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication across the relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure systems and digital solutions are fit for purpose in close partnership with Information Systems, including supporting system enhancements, implementations, testing, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply Operational Excellence, Lean, and structured problem-solving methodologies to improve service, compliance, cost, quality, and productivity.
  • Initiate, participate in, and lead cross-functional projects and improvement initiatives across regional and global supply chain operations.
  • Provide leadership with recommendations on long-term strategy, operating models, capability requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Manage interfaces between internal functions and external supply chain partners across operational, tactical, and strategic levels.
  • Consider the financial implications of operational decisions and prioritize resources and initiatives based on business need and patient impact.
  • Ensure that all relevant systems, processes, and activities comply with applicable GDP, GMP, SOX, audit, and internal control requirements.
  • Maintain inspection and audit readiness and ensure that operational records, procedures, and controls are complete, current, and sustainable.
  • Manage multiple assignments, operational processes, and improvement initiatives independently and concurrently.

What success looks like

  • A motivated, appropriately staffed, and capable team with clear objectives, development plans, and succession coverage.
  • Reliable and compliant reverse-logistics and operations-support processes across the EMEA region.
  • Timely and effective support to customers, affiliates, distribution sites, warehouses, and external supply chain partners.
  • Clear process ownership, performance visibility, and accountability through fit-for-purpose procedures, systems, controls, and KPIs.
  • Measurable improvements in operational performance, service, compliance, quality, cost, and productivity.
  • Effective collaboration across Amgen functions, regions, sites, and external partners.
  • Sustainable processes that are not dependent on individual knowledge or manual intervention.
