Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center
Midland, Texas
The behavioral health RN provides direct patient care, administers medications, monitors vital signs, and performs basic patient assessments under the supervision of the Nursing Managers. They also help with patient education, assist with daily activities, and document patient data to support treatment planning for individuals with mental and substance use disorders.
Job duties and responsibilities:
• Monitors and documents patient behavior, progress, and responses to treatment.• Administers prescribed medications, including psychotropic medications, changes bandages, and notes patient reactions in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).• Assists patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and hygiene.• Takes and records vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate).• Conducts focused patient assessments, collects data, and documents it in patient charts for the supervising nurses, physicians.• Works with other staff, such as psychiatrists, to help implement treatment plans.• Facilitates group therapy sessions or recreational activities.• Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Requirements/Qualifications
• Minimum requirement of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); strong preference given to candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). • Current, active RN license to practice in the state of Texas.• Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting, such as psychiatric or substance use disorder nursing.• Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, strong observation skills, and knowledge of basic nursing care and patient safety protocols are essential.
