Description
After-School Program Tutor – Part-Time
Alper JCC Miami is seeking a patient, engaging, and dependable Tutor to provide academic support to elementary and middle school students in our After-School Care Program.
We are looking for someone who can provide meaningful homework help and academic reinforcement while helping students build confidence, strengthen skills, and become more independent learners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide homework assistance and academic support.
- Help students understand assignments and concepts rather than simply providing answers.
- Support reading, writing, math, and other core academic subjects.
- Work individually and with small groups of students.
- Reinforce positive study habits, organization, and independent learning skills.
- Provide additional academic reinforcement when needed.
- Maintain a patient, encouraging, and positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with Aftercare staff regarding students who may need additional support.
Qualifications:
- Certified teacher, experienced educator, or similar academic background strongly preferred.
- Experience tutoring or working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of reading, writing, and math fundamentals.
- Ability to explain concepts in different ways based on a student’s individual needs.
- Patient, dependable, encouraging, and comfortable working with children.
- Education majors and individuals with significant classroom or tutoring experience are encouraged to apply.
- Must meet all required background screening and program requirements.

Part-time, Monday–Friday during after-school hours
