Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The RAPID division leads the industry in reticle inspection solutions, helping ensure high lithography yields and cost-effective semiconductor manufacturing. Its systems support both mask shops and fabs by detecting defects early in the process, enabling faster, more reliable production.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Responsible for the electrical architecture, develop, integration, and compliance of advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology systems. Lead the development of power distribution, machine controls, safety systems, motion control interfaces, and facility integration solutions while working closely with mechanical, software, systems, manufacturing, and field engineering teams. Support products throughout the full lifecycle, from concept development through customer deployment and sustaining engineering. Define supporting documentation, test fixtures, procedures, and service manuals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and release electrical systems for semiconductor capital equipment, including power distribution units (PDUs), logic control panels, cable assemblies, and subsystem interfaces.
• Develop electrical architecture integrating with precision motion systems, automation controls, imaging equipment, vacuum subsystems, and facility infrastructure.
• Perform system power analysis, load calculations, circuit sizing, breaker coordination, grounding design, and fault protection studies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations including SEMI S2/S22, NFPA 79, UL 508A, CE, etc.
• Author electrical schematics, cable and harness designs, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering specifications, design review presentations, and test procedures.
• Lead engineering design reviews and risk assessments.
• Use problem solving methods to drive issue resolution activities for manufacturing, system integration, and field installations through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Select and qualify electrical components including power supplies, circuit protection devices, safety relays, contactors, connectors, cables, industrial networking hardware, and control-system equipment.
• Work with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and other internal engineering teams to ensure quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Support safety/regulatory evaluations and factory acceptance events.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance from the electrical engineering perspective to teams across multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• The candidate must be a curious, self-motivated, knowledge-seeking individual with the ability to work well independently and within the team to help us create innovative technologies. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and very strong problem solving capabilities.
• Understanding of single and 3 phase power
• Control and Safety circuits (Performance Level analysis)
• Skilled in AutoCAD, Zuken E3, or other schematic drafting tools
• Understanding of PLC systems (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley)
• Ability to hands-on troubleshoot complex electrical subsystems
• Must be able to travel occasionally for work-related activities

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years

Total Rewards

Base Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $172,800.00 Annually Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
