Accounting Manager

Hi there! We are South and our client is looking for an Accounting Manager!

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with strong accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals and the confidence to take ownership of client relationships from day one.

You’ll manage a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses, handling the full accounting and bookkeeping cycle with the support of one bookkeeper. You’ll own the outcome — keeping the books accurate, ensuring clients are informed, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

YOU’RE A GREAT FIT IF

• You have strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping fundamentals, including bank reconciliations, month-end close, working papers, and accruals such as deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• You are highly proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Xero.
• You can manage sales tax, including GST and HST, end-to-end and ensure filings are completed accurately and on time.
• You’re comfortable working with fintech and accounting tools, including integrations, AP platforms such as Plooto or Ramp, Stripe, and Dext — and you’re confident figuring out new tools when needed.
• You can confidently explain a P&L, aging report, or other financial information to a business owner in clear, simple language, both in writing and on client calls.
• You have strong written communication skills and respond clearly and promptly.
• You actively use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to improve efficiency, automate repetitive work, and focus more on analysis and judgment.
• You’re comfortable working with Google Workspace.

THIS ROLE MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT FIT IF

• You prefer to work behind the scenes rather than interact directly with clients.
• You’re uncomfortable leading or participating in client calls.
• You’re not yet highly proficient in QBO or Xero.

• CPA designation.
