About the Job 

The Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Director is responsible for leading all patient and some insurance‑related revenue cycle operations, including Patient AR Management, Insurance Benefits Verification, patient communications, interaction with patient services, credentialing, product development, and contracting departments. Improve the patient financial journey, communications, patient collections, reduce denials associated with Eligibility and coverage, and improve overall cash collections. This role oversees both internal RCM staff and the outsourced RCM vendor, ensuring consistent execution, compliance, and measurable financial performance 

Key Responsibilities 

Patient AR & Credit Balance Management

  • Lead patient accounts receivable and credit balance workflows to improve collections, reduce aging, and ensure timely resolution and refunds.

  • Monitor performance, identify root causes of non-payment, and implement process improvements and reporting.

Patient Eligibility & Billing Call Center

  • Lead the transition of eligibility and billing call workflows to RCM.

  • Develop processes, SOPs, training materials, call scripts, decision trees, and knowledge resources.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate staffing, service coverage, and continuous improvement.

Insurance AR & Denial Reduction

  • Support AR workflows and initiatives to reduce eligibility, coverage, and authorization denials.

  • Analyze denial and payer trends, implement corrective actions, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve recurring issues.

  • Oversee write-off governance to ensure write-offs are appropriate and minimized.

Training & Change Management

  • Develop and deliver training, SOPs, and communication materials to support process changes and operational consistency.

Operational Strategy & Performance

  • Develop strategies to improve cash flow, reduce AR days, and strengthen revenue integrity.

  • Build and monitor KPIs for AR, denials, write-offs, and payer performance.

  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency and results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive RCM leadership experience, including insurance AR and denial management.

  • Experience managing outsourced RCM vendors or BPO partners.

  • Strong understanding of payer policies, regulatory requirements, and multi‑state billing environments

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive measurable financial outcomes.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
