Job Title: Access Services Student Assistant
Location: Minneapolis Campus
Pay Rate: 16.50
Hours: Tuesdays 8am to 10:30am and Thursdays 8am to 12:30pm
Job Summary
The Charles J. Keffer Library seeks reliable and attentive assistants who possess customer service skills to work at the Library Services desk on the Minneapolis Campus. Library student employees are responsible for the Library Services desk and are the front face of the library. Library student employees are responsible for a variety of job duties to help with library operations.
We are looking for students who can work during the following times at the Charles J. Keffer Library
- Tuesdays from 8am to 10:30am
- Thursdays from 8am to 12:30pm

Essential Functions
- Check out and check in books, media, and other library materials
- Answer basic informational, directional, and library policy questions
- Direct questions to the Librarian on Duty, a supervisor, or another department on campus
- Perform stacks maintenance, including shelving, straightening, inventory, shelf reading, and shifting
- Search and retrieve items from the collection
- Process hold requests, inter-campus deliveries, and the regional courier
- Assist with document delivery scanning
- Assist with special projects
- Record usage statistics using an online form
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Ability to work effectively with the public
- Working shifts as assigned or arranging for a substitute
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
Applicants should be able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Punctuality and dependability are a necessity.

- Ability to learn library-specific computer software
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
