About the role

Danieli, Venezia, a Four Seasons Hotel is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of People & Culture to join our team.

Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this role is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the People & Culture department while helping to build a strong employee experience from recruitment through engagement, development, and retention. Working closely with hotel leaders, the Assistant Director of People & Culture will serve as a trusted business partner, fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with Four Seasons values and supporting the continued growth of our newly opened hotel.

The ultimate objective is to establish Danieli as an employer of choice within Venice's luxury hospitality market while contributing to an exceptional employee experience that enables outstanding guest service.

What you will do

People Management

• Champion the Four Seasons Golden Rule in every interaction.
• Support leaders in creating an engaging, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
• Partner with department leaders on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, coaching, and career development.
• Act as an objective third party in employee counselling, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters while escalating legal or employee relations risks to the Director of People & Culture.
• Support succession planning and development initiatives for high-potential employees and managers.
• Coach leaders on People & Culture best practices, company policies, and compliance.
• Facilitate employee communication and engagement initiatives across the hotel.
• Foster trusted relationships throughout the organization, encouraging collaboration and continuous development.

Operational Excellence

• Support the execution of Four Seasons People & Culture initiatives and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Coordinate recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee development activities.
• Drive learning initiatives and support training programs that reinforce Four Seasons culture and service standards.
• Assist in developing departmental plans, budgets, and policies while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee employee engagement activities, recognition programs, internal communications, and recreational events.
• Support the employee journey throughout the full employment lifecycle.
• Complete additional projects as assigned by the Director of People & Culture.

Financial & Business Support

• Ensure People & Culture programs are delivered effectively within budget.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of People & Culture initiatives and identify opportunities to improve employee engagement and operational performance.
• Support productivity and labor cost initiatives aligned with Four Seasons business objectives.
• Assist with compensation reviews, market benchmarking, and benefits analysis where appropriate.
• Participate in audits, reporting activities, and workforce planning.

What you bring

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar People & Culture or Human Resources leadership role, preferably within Four Seasons or another luxury hospitality organization.
• Strong knowledge of Italian labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust, influence leaders, and foster an inclusive workplace.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, including Workday, is preferred.
• Fluency in both Italian and English, written and spoken.
• A passion for developing people and contributing to an exceptional employee experience.

Schedule & Hours

• Full-time position based in Venice, Italy.
• Successful candidates must hold legal authorization to work in Italy at the time of application.
