Job Description
 

Position-Specific Job Requirements 

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, supporting collaboration across Finance and the wider business. 

• Contribute to the definition and monitoring of service standards and provide input into the ongoing management of service partnership agreements. 

• Support the definition, maintenance, and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 

• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure financial activities comply with the Worldwide Controller’s Manual and all applicable laws and regulations. 

• Responsible for the timely and accurate review and posting of month‑end close and accounting transactions, including P&L and balance sheet analysis, reconciliation, investigation, and resolution of variances. 

• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with U.S. GAAP and local GAAP, and consistently apply appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures. 

• Interact effectively with internal and external auditors, supporting quarter‑end, interim, and year‑end audits through the provision of timely, accurate information and clear explanations. 

• Evaluate existing accounting and reporting processes and recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control. 

• Support the development, documentation, and assessment of internal controls over accounting and financial reporting processes. 

• Work effectively with non‑financial stakeholders, providing clear explanations of accounting outcomes and requirements. 

• Support accounting and reporting requirements under U.S. GAAP and local statutory frameworks. 

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively across multiple functions and cultures, and providing guidance and knowledge‑sharing within the team as required. 

• Establish credibility with a range of stakeholders and positively influence outcomes within the scope of the role. 

• Demonstrate flexibility to support U.S. business hours and late close activities (approximately 1–3 days per month, as required). 

• Provide support to Statutory Accounting and VAT processes, where required. 

• Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization, supporting implementation of best practices, and collaborating with cross‑functional partners. 

Knowledge, experience, competencies
The person we seek will be a part‑qualified accountant (or equivalent) with prior experience within a structured finance environment. They will be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced setting, managing multiple priorities simultaneously and working under pressure to meet strict reporting deadlines. This role requires a self‑driven and adaptable individual who demonstrates high standards of integrity, excellence, and teamwork, and who brings a strong attention to detail and analytical mindset to their work. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively across multiple functions and cultures, interacting confidently with both financial and non‑financial stakeholders, as well as internal and external auditors. A strong working knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or a similar ERP system is essential, along with solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. The individual will also bring a continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on driving efficiency gains and supporting process enhancements. Experience of operating RTR processes in Shared Services in a multi-country corporate environment is a definite advantage.

Language: The person we seek will be able to communicate effectively in English. An additional major European language would be beneficial – French, German, Spanish or Italian.

Specific Education and Experience Requirements
A professional accounting qualification from a recognized body (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA); preference for a background in a practice training environment. Typically requires either a BA or BS degree in accounting or equivalent and 2-3 years of relevant experience. Experience operating in a Shared Service environment an advantage. Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry also a plus.
